Career(s)

When I was 6 I knew that when I grew up I was going to be a princess. I was serious, but adults found it laughable.
When I was 12 I wanted to be a paramedic just to be around hot paramedic dudes, but gore makes me gag.
When I was 14 I became a devout amateur astronomer, but when I reached college and realized physics was involved, I decided I should be an artist instead.
When I was 19 I moved to NYC to be a storyboard cartoonist, but then I realized I couldn’t draw and that was a necessary attribute to the craft.

So, a few years down the line when I graduated from UCLA with a degree in Cultural Anthropology I discover my real passion - baking. Where the hell that came from, not even my mother knows. I never helped her cook or bake as a kid. I didn’t care. I just liked reading cat magazines and growing bacteria from cotton swabs taken from the inside of my mouth in Petri dishes.

There are some (I call them lucky) people that knew exactly what they wanted to be when they grew up and actually made that happen as an adult, like my husband. He knew at the age of ten when he received his first guitar that he’d one day become a rock star, and by golly he made that happen. He now tours the world with Gogol Bordello.
I didn’t discover my passion in life until the age of 25. A late bloomer I suppose, but I’m glad I finally did. And to make a long winded story draw to a close, I am now doing exactly what I love, for people that I adore, and for a community that I call home. I (the Scootabaker) am the new in house Pastry Chef at Toluca Lake’s SweetSalt Food Shop, and I spend my days playing with flour and sugar and developing crazy awesome recipes for people to eat.

It’s so true what “they” say, “choose a job you love and never work a day in your life.“ Amen!

Yes always choose a job in which you have interest. Never do a work without your interest. If you are doing a job but you are not satisfied then you never lived happy.
If you are confused about your career then you can take help from any career coach.

Career coaching requires an investment of time, money and genuine effort. It is not a process for the weak, timid, or uncommitted - career coaching is for women who know what they want and are not ashamed to go after it. Do you have what it takes?
