As I mentioned a while back, I was invited by CAA to cater their annual Young Hollywood Party. Yup, mmm hmm, kind of a big deal. It was no small task. Weeks of preparation and 2 baking assistants created just about 1,000 pieces for this huge event. By the end of it all, I had developed a strong aversion to anything containing sugar, but that of course has subsided and I'm back on my maple syrup I.V. drip. The official Scootabaker logo was finally complete and ready to be premiered at the event, thanks to our illustrator friend, Bob Thomson, who also illustrated Michael's children's book series, Mike and the Bike.
At the insistence of the event coordinators, I prepared Lemon Coconut Bars, Raspberry Ganache Tartlets, and Pecan Pie Bites. It felt like we were baking for months on end. The kitchen smelled of fresh pastry dough all the days long, and the crispness of the zested lemons enveloped our every senses. Heavenly indeed.
The venue, Hollywood's Playhouse, was blaring with color and decadence. The dessert assortment was a supreme addition to the already vibrant landscape. And you know this girl can't go without telling you what she donned... I was prancin' around sharing my desserts with guests in my favorite seafoam green chiffon dress and kickass Chloé wedges. Black? Forget it.
And it was the most bizarre thing cause I was about to throw back my ump-teenth cocktail, and then the night's events drew to a close. Had I been buzzin' through the crowds that long that 6 hours had passed?

Eliana - My feet still hurt from runnin' 'round all night in heels. But the pain is always worth the vanity! ;-)
Congrats on the big event. Looks like you've outdone yourself. Great job! I hope you "accidentally" dropped like a 1000 of your biz cards over there, or "hid" them underneath each pecan bite ;o) I'm sure you'll be getting some calls. And the new logo is awesome. Congrats!!!
Hanaa- It was overwhelming, of course in a good way. I've already booked myself a few weekly deliveries, so I'd say it was worth all my initial efforts!
I want a shirt!!! Sounds like an awesome night! This makes me wish I was part of the Hollywood elite instead of the Pasadena porch sitters.
Natty- haha. I look forward to the day I can become a Pasadena porch sitter! Until then, I gotta hustle to be recognized as a notable baker! Gonna wear my Scootabaker shirt EVERYDAY! I'll be sure to make those shirts available on the new site as soon as I get em in! YAY!
Aw, congrats! More business means more shoes! :)
Meleyna- That's really the only reason I'm starting the biz... for the mountains of shoes I expect to bestow!
